The Connected Vehicle Field Test 4.0 (CVFT) has been an exciting journey of innovation, collaboration, and groundbreaking insights into remote vehicle diagnostics. As we near the final stages of this ambitious project, we are thrilled to share some of the most significant updates from our recent test sessions across Europe.
On the last week of January, we took a significant step forward with a fully remote diagnostics test in collaboration with ZF Group. This test focused on a BMW training vehicle with pre-existing errors, and we successfully read the vehicle data remotely, confirming errors in a report.
This session proved that remote diagnostics can function efficiently in a completely virtual format, marking another step forward in refining our diagnostic processes.

On the last week of February our Connected Vehicle Field Test expanded across Europe with a session at Revolte, e-garages in Nantes, France, in collaboration with Schaeffler. Revolte, known for its expertise in electric and hybrid vehicles, partnered with us to simulate vehicle errors and assess them using both traditional and remote diagnostics.

The alignment between traditional and remote diagnostic results highlights that remote diagnostics technology is already viable and operational today! We are currently refining the pilot phase and preparing our final report.

On the third week of March we wrapped up our final test at Bosch in Plochingen, focusing on remote diagnostics. This marks the completion of six diverse tests in our field study, revealing fascinating insights into the differences between OEM 1 and OEM 2 remote diagnostic systems.
One key finding from this session: OEM 2 incorporates plausibility checks for their Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) transmission to the backend, introducing a delay in error detection. In contrast, OEM 1 provides direct readouts from the vehicle immediately. While both systems delivered results comparable to professional diagnostic testers, the OEM 2 remote readout posed some challenges in our Bosch test due to its additional verification step.

With several successful tests completed across different locations and in collaboration with multiple partners, our Connected Vehicle Field Test 4.0 is approaching its conclusion.
